“The Dream is the Truth”

My moma says I was five years old when I sleepwalked to my Aunt Corrine and Uncle Teachey’s house next door. I have flashes of that dream walk, like when I knocked on the door and she put me to bed.  My mom added deadbolt locks to our door because of it. I now specialize in changing the locks. :)

Ten years later, Aunt Corrine started walking over to our house sometimes 10 times a day! She called her sister’s name- my Grandma Ellen and other times she’d be wearing her slip outside her dress. She had Alzheimer’s, but could still teach me to play a little piano melody.

In her backyard was a pear tree, apple tree and peach tree. One day she was just standing around the peach tree humming a song, “The Tennessee Waltz” and then started prancing around to show me how it was danced. I said to myself, “Now how could she remember all that but didn’t know who I was?!”

Music. It’s the very thing that’s embedded in our memories sometimes forever, when one can’t even remember their own name. How powerful is that.  Aunt Corrine could sing church hymns back and forth and play them on her organ when she could barely remember if she had eaten that day.

Music. It is taken for granted at times. Sometimes we don’t even realize how much it gets us over.

Music. I am committed to creating music that will impact people in a powerful way for the good of everything.

Be a part of this with me.

Watch Your Step

I’m always looking for a sign. Weeks ago I went to court to handle some business affairs. I went to the bathroom and asked the spirit to give me a clear sign about an important decision to be made, “Make it plain God, write it on the wall,” I said. Well after filling out the paper work and going to the clerk, I handed her cash, and the darn lights went out. Registers went down, and there was not a thing to do but go home in the storm that had taken over the county. That was that.

Today I fell down the stairs. I laugh now, but it wasn’t funny then.  I immediately started looking around for the thing that I was supposed to see because truly this was a sign that I needed to do something! I went looking around the house for the thing to do. Ha. Yup, that was it. Wake up Tami and watch your step. Super simple.

Not everything is a sign. There are many lessons though. But sometimes a little fall is just a little fall. It doesn’t mean “stop”. It doesn’t mean “look”. Sometimes it is just a little fall. It's ok. Get up. Be careful next time.

Who’s Driving?

Let the spirit of life lead you. Trust that natural high that brought you to this place!

The other day I had a dream that I was riding down a road at a fast and steady pace in the back of an old pick-up truck, much like my granddad’s red truck. My sister was in the back with me and there was an elderly man driving the truck. My sister and I were sitting on the edge with our feet dangling as if this was a practice. Some ways down the road the elderly man decided climb from the driver’s seat to join us in the very back. I was terrified because it appeared that no one was driving the truck! The man assured me that it (the truck) knew how to drive and it had been down that road many times. I was ready to jump but it was going too fast and all I could do was hold on. Hold on and trust. So I did. In my dream, I just took a deep breath and looked out into the fields and watched the road as we made curves and turns and then finally came to an easy stop.

Wow is all I could say to this dream. Sometimes it appears that things are out of control but when you can relax and watch and allow the Spirit to take over, things will surely flow.

Walking on Sunshine

Have you ever been so full of joy when things around you seem to have fallen?

Today I am walking on sunshine. I am writing this for you and for me too. I really could be in another place today with all that life can throw. Instead I am feeling the weight of peace and happiness on me.

I don’t have any amazing news to share, nor do I have a sob story to tell. I just have the wondrousness of God around me and I guess that’s all I have to say.

I love you and stay tuned for music from me and my musical soul mate.

Being So “Busy”

Lessons I learned today from being so “BUSY”.

The little things I say to my children are good for my ears as well.

Lesson #1 Timing. “Can we plant the seeds?” Trinity asked after eating her orange. “No, it’s not planting season,” I say with authority. I listened to myself this time. What season is it for you Tami? Figure this out.
Lesson #2 Delegating. “Mommy, can you pull my pant leg down?” Ok, I pulled one down and said, “Why don’t you get your brother to do the other one?” She did and Daniel, willingly, was very successful at this.
Lesson #3 Sit. Eat. Chew. Those were the directions I gave my children this morning for breakfast. Then I sat down, I ate and enjoyed my bowl of cereal. Before I said this aloud, I was putting the dishes away, bagging a gift and reading O. One thing at a time, I told them and told myself. This was the biggest lesson for me today.

These are not easy tasks for most of us who are so used to being busy. But we surely have enough to keep us busy with our creative minds going non-stop. Every now and then, listen to yourself as you give directions to others.
